Ordered the hot dog with some veg & waffle fries. Dessert was a chocolate chip cake. Food was great - hot dog had a nice snap & cake was moist. Great prices, friendly service & management staff. A no frills diner that I would add to my regular rotation if I was a local.
My husband and I are from Texas. We were blown away by the hospitality and friendliness we experienced from the moment we stepped in the door. The food was great! We will come back the next time we are in town.
Definitely worth trying this place. It's one of the towns diner style locations and it's a real treat. Service has always been above and beyond and the food is kinda what you would expect. It always a great experience. Also has room for very large parties.

Great family owned, not a horrible chain restaurant, that is always busy and has excellent diner style food prepared to please! The pecan pie is homemade, and they cook steaks on a charcoal grill giving a Ma & Pa's home prepared taste! Great fun place with a hippie vibe, but young people hate it because of that, apparently after reading the bad reviews that this classic restaurant has endured from "Me" generation, that absolutely hate anything "boomer". Get over yourselves and go eat at taco smell.
One out of two places in town that I will go to for hot dogs. The food is always excellent. It holds up surprisingly well if you get food to go. I live about 10 minutes from Der Dog and my food is still hot and perfect when I get home. The store itself is very clean and it is so easy to relax there. And the staff is absolutely amazing, attentive and helpful. Sometimes, they will close early if they aren't busy. I showed up after they had closed early and they still made my food and were so nice about it. I only have one consideration... I wish they didn't close early because I never know if they will be open when I got there. So if I'm in a hurry, I won't even consider going there. But when it's open?? I definitely recommend this place.
We went off the freeway on our migration to find a good lunch. This was worth the detour!!! The staff was very attentive and friendly. Food was fast and hot. I had the slaw dog with sauce, hubby had the prime rib sub special. We had a side of fried mushrooms and beer batter fries. Everything was delicious!! Plenty of seating. Lots of parking available. Highly recommend!!!
Look at this hotdog!! I grew up in this town. Now I live in Texas and one thing you find here that I have never seen anywhere else is a slaw dog. So needless to say I stop in here any time I'm in town. Will I drive 1500 miles for a hotdog from here? You betcha!
